A thank you, and a brief announcement
Happy Friday everyone!
I wanted to thank everyone for making my recent series, “Investigating the Grants Pass Gospel Rescue Mission”, so significant. The comments and shares helped it reach a wide and diverse audience, and I have no doubt that it had a positive impact on many.
Speaking of impact—along the way I asked you all to donate toward my anonymous source who I called “Alison.” I wanted to make sure that she was compensated for the emotional and physical labor of sharing her story and digging up (literally and figuratively) old documents and memories. Your generosity was astounding, to the point that I set a goal for us as form of repair that we could hit $1250, the cost of her rent.
I’m happy to announce that we met that goal, and even exceeded it. Thank you all so much for contributing and sharing.
Here is the series, all in one place, in case you missed it or are new: it was meant to be three parts, but I included a couple updates along the way that were pertinent.
Now that this series has wrapped (for now?), I need to take a brief hiatus from Substack.
I’m in an excitingly but exhaustingly busy season of writing and speaking as I prepare for my next book (!), my secret winter project (announcement coming soon!), and multiple speaking engagements all back to back to back.
It’s a high value of mine to keep this Substack active, especially since several of you generously pay for the subscription to it. I will return within a month to my normal schedule of three posts per month minimum beginning Friday, October 18th.
Thank you for the grace to take this period to catch up and continue to do my work in all the different ways it finds itself working out.
See you in mid-October!
