Virtual Narcan/Overdose Training This Saturday
Learn how to save your neighbor's life this season
Friends, you know I’m very passionate about how we love people who use drugs. Fatal overdoses typically spike in December and January, specifically around the Holidays. Luckily, there is a miracle drug called Narcan that saves peoples lives daily.
I’ve been training people on how to use Narcan and respond to overdoses for a long time, but recently have started collaborating with my friend Izzy on them. Izzy works directly in harm reduction, and her teaching style, deep knowledge and passion, as well as her up-to-the-moment knowledge of what’s happening with substance usage and supply is invaluable for this type of training.
We’ve been leading them locally in Minneapolis, and will continue to do so, but we wanted to expand our reach by offering a virtual training THIS SATURDAY @ 6:30 CT. (If you’re in the Minneapolis area, there is also an in-person training next Tuesday!)
In this training, you’ll:
Learn what opioids do and how they can cause overdoses
Bust common myths about opioids like fentanyl
Consider how to respond compassionately to an opioid overdose
Understand how sedatives in the opioid supply impact our responses to opioid overdoses
That last bullet point is really important if you’ve taken a Narcan training before. The drug supply is always changing, and our overdose response has to change with it.
So, even if you’ve been trained on Narcan before, you should consider updating your training!
If you’d like to come, please RSVP using this link.
Hope to see you there!
