First, happy birthday! Second, happy book birthday. Third, the new book sounds wonderful. Glad you're writing it. Also, I'd be happy to sponsor 3 books. Tell me how.

Happy Birthday! Not sure if you've heard about what Marcel LeBrun has done in Fredericton, New Brunswick here in Canada, but he's a Christian who has developed a 99 micro-homes community. It's called 12 Neighbours. You can see some of what he's done here: https://www.12neighbours.com/, or here: https://www.facebook.com/12Neighbours/?checkpoint_src=any or here: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.4205532 Looking forward to your next book!

I’d love to read that book! I work once a week in Skid Row and would love to be more knowledgeable about what Christian orgs are doing. And happy birthday!

Happy birthday, Kevin! Really looking forward to the new book. Was with a Sunday School class just yesterday morning and your book was a feature recommendation, of course. Keep up the great work!

Happy Belated Birthday 🎉 (just catching up on substacks).

I will read whatever you write so yes, I love your book idea and appreciate your topic choice.

Recently I was out of town for some work and I had a bit of time to kill so I found a local coffee shop and picked a table where a guy was clearly reading/studying the Bible. I intended to do the same so asked if I could share the table (it was also the only available space outside on a gorgeous day) and he agreed. We struck up a conversation…he’s a local pastor and I asked how homelessness is managed/addressed/viewed locally. We had some conversation and I shared some of my perspective and experience. What he said made me curious…

We parted ways and when I got home I looked up his church and found a podcast where he interviewed the director of the local GM…. I think I was only about 10 minutes in when I paused, ordered another copy of your book and dropped it in the mail to him the next day.

I’d be happy to send another book to a church.

That sounds incredible! I’m enjoying the work you’re already doing about rescue missions on Substack, and it will be neat to get a whole book on it!

Is there a link for sponsoring a book?

Expand full comment

No link, just using Venmo, etc.

I'm a dinosaur. No Venmo, Elle or whatever, and definitely no Paypal, which I tried long ago and experienced fraud. If you PM me on FB with an address, I can send a check.

Can you PM me?

Yes! Also if you did not check out the tiny homes in Austin, you should.

i did! i have lots of complicated feelings about them that I haven't decided what to do with yet tbh. But that's actually where I stayed when I was there.

Awesome! Always good to have different perspectives about possible solutions. No magic ones for sure. Also in San Antonio there is the Haven for Hope campus. Started to look into it during the pandemic and never got back to it. Worked with the gentleman who helped the city put it together, when he served as an expert witness for me.
