Thank you both for writing this piece. Lately my heart has been broken by what is happening to the homeless in our country. It feels like these policies against them have become a wave of hate and judgement. ππ’ ππ»
Thank you for sharing about this. Itβs so important for us to understand how these laws and these views are harming people made in Godβs image. Grateful for you!
This message is especially important this time of year, as many people prepare to celebrate Christmas. Thank you, Kevin and Zach, for your leadership and clear voices.
My experience has been that people living at the margins are likely to remain there, but life has also taught me that people experience all kinds of problems that limit their economic and social abilities. That said, I think that itβs better to err on the side of compassion and sharing rather than being stuck on assessing whether someone could do better through their own efforts. Who couldnβt do better? I donβt remember Jesus asking that.
So let's compound the problem by kicking the disabled and the elderly off social security and veterans off benefits. Yeah, your only 90, get back to work.
Thank you to both of you for writing about the increasing criminalization of unhoused people nationally, as well as in the Austin area. The lawsuit by Texas AG Ken Paxton against Sunrise Community Church for serving unhoused people is ridiculous and horrifying.

Honored to be in this work alongside you, Kevin.

I wrote Ken Paxtonβs email the scripture that references not suing believers. I am generally most legalistic to Republicans.

Ken Paxton is not human. He is a cruel, heartless monster. My heart breaks for the people in Texas who care about humanity

How can we help in assisting the church(es) in this?
Kevin and Zach,

But⦠but⦠Lord, when did we see you hungry and not give you something to eat?
