After the initial stomach drop, my thoughts went immediately to our local homeless community and to our trans brothers and sisters. I'm most worried about them in all of this.
Next week, I'm making calls and sending emails to those working with the few local groups doing homeless outreach and finding out where I can be of use. I don't know what else to do at this point, but pray, and get to work.
I was homeless for too long because people in my life thought a shelter fixes things.( what is better than rapid rehousing, is remaining housed) They no longer saw me. I was no longer the person they knew at church, I was a housing status. Since I found Substack, I have finally been able to write about this.

i agree the next few years need to be spent being hyper-local in our communities and networks of support. i'm with you in both prayer and work.
